On the Beijing Guidebook for Overseas Assst Management Institutions
Asset management has become one of the major field in the speeding up process of opening-up of China’s finance industry. To better facilitate foreign investment in Beijing, CFA Institute co-authored the Beijing Guidebook for Overseas Asset Management Institutions with Asset Management Association of China, Beijing Asset Management Association and Beijing Private Equity Association. China Live invited Dr. Wei LIN, CFA, one of the authors to talk about investing in Beijing for foreign asset managers: why Beijing, and how. Wei Lin, Ph.D, CFA, MBA, Assistant District Major, Tongzhou District, Beijing
Dr. Lin has been working for the government of Tongzhou District, Beijing, China since July 2019. As the assistant district major, he is responsible for promoting the business opportunities in Tongzhou, especially for attracting financial institutions to come to Tongzhou district to start and grow their businesses.
Before this job, Dr. Lin had worked in United State for about 20 years. He worked in Wellington Management Company (2012-2019), State Street Global Advisors (2008-2012), Charles River Development (2006-2008), and Thomson Corporation (1998-2006). Before that, Dr. Lin worked in Tsinghua University (1991-1996).
Dr. Lin earned his Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree in Environment Engineering from Tsinghua University, Master in Computer Science from Northeastern University in Massachusetts, USA, and MBA from Babson College in Massachusetts, USA. He is also a CFA charter holder.
